Taxi
Prices, quality and training
Prices
New rates for taxis apply since 1 February 2008. The most important change is that the duration of a taxi ride no longer plays a role. If the distance to the destination is known approximately, the price of the ride can be calculated in advance. The intention is to install information panels near taxi ranks, stating the distance to tourist attractions and important destinations.
| Type of transport | Maximum starting price incl. first 2 km | Maximum kilometre rate from 3rd km |
|---|---|---|
| Private cars (4 people max.) | € 7,50 | € 2,20 |
| Minibus (5 to 8 people) | € 12,20 | € 2,52 |
| Maximumprice for waiting at the start of ride | € 33,00 | € 33,00 |
Taxi Quality Mark
The quality of taxis varies, which means that one taxi can provide more service than another. An independent foundation introduced the TX Taxi Quality Mark [TX Keurmerk Taxi] in 2004. Taxi companies and control centres that meet certain quality requirements are allowed to use this quality mark. However, regardless of whether they bear the quality mark, all taxis in the Netherlands must comply with a number of requirements set by the government in order to guarantee a certain level of quality. All legal taxis have certain characteristics that allow you to recognise them as ‘real’ taxis.
Driver training
Nowadays, taxi drivers are subject to strict requirements. This is why an increasing number of drivers undergo professional training, in which attention is paid to subjects such as driving style, car technology, first aid, customer-friendliness and dealing with conflicts. A mandatory examination was introduced for taxi drivers in 2004 in order to guarantee a certain basic quality of service.
